OneSevenFour Launch Party

@ The Pod in the crawdaddy!
OneSevenFour adds a new chapter to the POGO story at the POD this Saturday 26th of January. A brand new collective fostered from a shared love of innovative, deep, drum and bass music with the intent to push things to the next level, kicks off in the country’s capital city with the outfit’s driving force and residents, Beckett, Bonz and Fraher.
Special guest Julie Dillon will be hosting on the Mic in the intimate surrounds of the Crawdaddy on its heavyweight TurboSound sound system.
Don’t miss what is going to be the start of something quite special, and shake off those late winter blues with some belly rumbling, heart warming bass lines and foot moving beats.
The OneSevenFour Residents
Beckett…
…has been heavily involved in the Irish drum and bass scene for donkeys years now, and is the man behind Ireland’s long serving online community for junglists irishdrumandbass dot com.
Initially starting off as a DJ (as well as running the website) Beckett gained a reputation for his across the board selections and solid mixing. Guesting all around the country, as well as providing backup for innumerable jungle “heavyweights” like Roni Size, Hype, DJ Marky and Goldie he eventually moved into the promotion game.
Club nights he was involved in running included Second Street and Release in Belfast, which he ran with drum and bass legend Calibre and long time collaborator WigWig, which brought over a Host of guests from overseas including Fabio, Flight, D-Bridge, Klute, Breakage and Total Science amongst others as well as representing with some of Ireland’s finest DJs, not to mention running two hugely successful 1Xtra events which were broadcast on the station!
Beckett’s Top 5 tracks from 2007:
1 : Breakage Clarendon Digital Soundboy
2 : Lynx Distance Zero DSM
3 : Sabre Point Blank Bassbin
4 : Noisia Facade VIP RAM
5 : Break & Survival Cronk Exit
Bonz
…has been deejaying around Dublin and Ireland since 2006, bringing progressive, future-funk drum’n'bass to the masses while supporting high-profile international guests like Fabio, Storm, Klute, Pendulum, Doc Sott, Grooverider and DJ Zinc in venues across the city. Bonz has been involved with Dublin-based drum’n'bass crews such as Syndrome and Reach, and also recently won a DJ competition to represent the new breed of jungle/drum’n'bass heads at the hugely-successful ‘Jungle Republic’ weekender in Killarney, Co. Kerry, late last year.

Fraher…
….bought my first Drum’n'Bass record in 1996, Alex Reece Candles, I was 14, so despite hoarding a pretty sizable collection of music, I had nowhere to play it, the minute I looked old enough to get into clubs I visited the funnel & switch, set up creepbeats radio with bodytonic resident Conor L & Mr.Jones Resident & FVF dj, Scutchie. Always wanted to set up a night portraying what I felt was a shift in drum’n'bass towards slightly more electronic / techno influenced sounds, moving away from the traditional, organic sample heavy amens sounds and the older sounds from before my time, I didn¹t grow up in that generation so I didn¹t feel as strong a connection as the generation before me, its only in recent years that the sound I was always looking for has emerged, and with that OneSevenFour happened.
Fraher’s 2007 top 5:
Mutt – hot lick squeeze
Break – Come and get it
Commix – Electric
Spirit – Axis
Marcus Intalex – Red 7
